Map of New Zealand by A.K.Johnston with the three main islands shown as New Ulster, New Munster and New Leinster after the proclamation of 1841 which established New Zealand as a distinct and independent colony of Great Britain. Also included are the Maori names of North Island, Middle Island and South Island. Inserts show Port Nicholson, and Port Cooper and Port Levy. Port Cooper was later renamed Port Lyttelton. Inland details still sketchy but coastal details have gained more accuracy. I have another lithographed copy of this map - also illustrated - hand coloured with a pink wash and priced at NZ$320.
